Two Roads

Opportunities come and go in life, windows open and then they close... We are faced with the choice of two roads upon our return - Hawaii or Oregon. Only time will tell which is the right choice for our future.

We have decided to extend our trip to include a visit to Hawaii - mixing business and pleasure to check out what opportunities await for us there. I have edited these details at the end of our itinerary. So a 3 1/2 month holiday has now turned to 4 months.... Life is good!

We are at 3 weeks and counting for the trip now. We have a lot of plans in the coming weeks, wrapping up the chapter of our lives in LA - camping on the beach up the PCH, backstage with Chris Rock, driving to Mexico to camp on the beach with friends and one last night at the Springbok bar. We haven't started packing for the move yet but will start that soon. It's almost here...

One Big Holiday

Since we both have such a passion for traveling and have done and seen so much of the world apart, we decided to take a trip around the world together. We are spending 3 1/2 months in the Southern Hemisphere of the world - a month in South America, a month in the Southern Asia Pacific Region and a month in Africa, finishing in the North East of the US - DC and NYC. Some of the destinations we are visiting are completely new to both of us and some of the destinations one of us has already visited but want to share it again with the other. We set out on May 21st for an adventure and holiday of a lifetime, returning to move our lives from the high paced life of Los Angeles. We are open to what the future holds for us at that time but right now, looking Northwest toward Bend, OR.

May 16th - LAST DAY OF WORK
May 19th - Moving all of our belongings and cars into storage
May 21st - Depart LAX at 6am for a flight to Atlanta via Chicago. Arrive in Atlanta at 4:30pm. Depart for Santiago, Chile at 10:10pm.
May 22nd - Arrive Santiago, Chile at 7:35am - spend a day and night in Santiago



May 23rd - Depart Santiago, Chile for Calama, Chile at 7:05am then take a bus to San Pedro de Atacama.
May 23rd - May 28th - San Pedro de Atacama. The Atacama desert is the highest desert in the world situated in the North of Chile in the Andes Mountains.



May 25th - Our 1 Year Anniversary spent in the desert!!!
May 28th - Depart Calama at 6:55pm for Santiago - we have an overnight layover in Santiago
May 29th - Depart Santiago for Punta Arenas, Chile at 8:00am
May 30th - June 7th - Patagonia region (Chile and Argentina) - Puerto Natales and the Torres Del Paine (Chile side) to Ushuaia, Argentina and the Tierra Del Fuego (Argentina side).



June 3rd - Jacques' 31st Birthday - in Patagonia
June 7th - Depart from Ushuaia to Buenos Aires at 2:23pm
June 7th - June 9th - Buenos Aires, Argentina - a weekend of partying in the city



June 9th - Depart via bus from Buenos Aires to Mendoza, Argentina
June 9th - June 15th - Mendoza, Argentina - wine country and outdoor adventure in Argentina



June 16th - June 18th - Skiing the resorts in Argentina and Chile in the Andes Mountains



June 19th - Santiago, Chile depart for Atlanta at 8:40pm
June 20th - Arrive Atlanta at 6am on a Friday morning
June 20th - June 22nd - Weekend in Atlanta with friends! We want to visit the GA Aquarium, spend happy hour at the Sweetwater Brewery, go out in Virginia Highlands on Saturday night and have fun catching up with people.



June 22nd - Depart Atlanta at 7:55am to LA via San Francisco. Arrive LA at 2:19pm for lunch with the cuzis and hamsters back in LA. Depart at 9:45pm for Auckland, New Zealand.
June 24th - Arrive Auckland at 5:03am.
June 24th - June 26th - Auckland, New Zealand with Craig and family (Jacques' brother). Auckland is in the North Island of New Zealand.



June 26th - Depart Auckland for Christchurch, New Zealand at 7:05am, arrive at 9:10am.
June 26th - June 30th - 5 days in an RV driving around South Island in New Zealand. We will hit the ski resorts near Queenstown.



June 30th - Depart Christchurch at 5:30pm, arrive Auckland 6:50pm.
July 1st - Depart Auckland at 9:00am for Sydney, Australia.
July 1st - July 3rd - Sydney, Australia



July 3rd - Depart Sydney for Cairns, Australia at 10:30am arriving at 1:35pm
July 3rd - July 6th - Great Barrier Reef - snorkeling, diving and relaxing on the beach



July 7th - Depart Cairns for Sydney at 11am, arriving Sydney at 1:45pm. Depart for Denpasar, Indonesia at 5:45pm to arrive at 10:05pm.
July 8th - July 27th - Indonesia. The first few days will be spent in Bali with Thea and family (Erica's cousin). Thea is a dive instructor and will take us to some great spots for diving. After departing Bali, we will head out to spend about 2 weeks relaxing on some isolated Indonesian island somewhere before heading back to Bali.



July 27th - Depart Denpasar at 5:20pm for Bangkok, Thailand arriving at 8:35pm.
July 28th - August 5th - We will spend the first few days in Bangkok and then head either north to Chiang Mai in the jungle or south to the beaches of Krabi... We won't decide until later.



August 6th - Depart Bangkok at 12:15am, arrive Johannesburg, South Africa at 6:25am. Ma and Pa (Jacques' parents) will pick us up and we will depart directly to Kruger National Park in South Africa.
August 6th - August 12th - Kruger National Park



August 12th - Erica's 31st Birthday - at Kruger Park
August 13th – Depart Kruger Park Lodge Resort for Three Rivers (Ma and Pa's home)
August 14th – Depart from Johannesburg to Livingstone Airport (Zambia) en route to Botswana
August 14th - 16th - Chobe National Park in Botswana



August 17th – Depart Botswana to Zambia
August 17th - 19th - Victoria Falls in Zambia. We intend to white water raft the Zambezi River on the 18th.



August 19th - Depart Zambia to Johannesburg then back to home at Three Rivers, South Africa
August 20th – Home at Three Rivers
August 21st - Fly from Johannesburg to Cape Town
August 21st - 24th - Cape Town, South Africa



August 25th – Depart Cape Town for Johannesburg & onto Three Rivers
August 26th – Three Rivers (at home)
August 27th – Depart for farm in Steenbokpan (50 km for Ellisras, Limpopo
Province)
August 28th - September 1st - Relaxing on Ma and Pa's Game Farm in the African Bush



September 2nd – Depart farm for Three Rivers
September 3rd – Three Rivers
September 4th – Depart Johannesburg at 6:00pm
September 5th - Arrive Washington, DC at 6:00am



September 5th - 9th - Visiting family in DC and Virginia
September 9th - Depart for NYC via Amtrack
September 9th - 11th - New York City then return to DC via Amtrack



September 12th - Depart DC for LA. 24 Hours in LA with the family again!



September 13th - Depart for Honolulu, Hawaii at 4:45pm, arriving 7:35pm.
September 14th - 21st - Honolulu, Hawaii with our friends, Shaun and Susan. We will be exploring future business opportunities for Jacques and checking out the island of Oahu.



September 22nd - Depart Honolulu for LA at 12:45pm, arriving 9:02pm.
September 23rd - .....Only time will tell what happens next!
